International Day of Mourning
3100 Foul Bay
Victoria, BC V8V 2L8
Every day workers suffer from work-related injuries and diseases. This year the theme for the International Day of Mourning is " "One is Too Many: No one should die on the job". We are calling on all governments to enforce the laws, including Westray provisions in the Criminal Code and occupational health and safety laws. We are requesting that they invest in prevention and strong health and safety committees. We also call on the federal government to reinstate the definition of danger that existed in the Canada Labour Code before Stephen Harper weakened it without consultation in 2014.
Please join Victoria Labour Council and CUPE 2081 for the International Day of Mourning to remember those who are gone and to continue to fight for those still here.
